EA Process
This study is subject to the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act (EA Act) and will be completed in accordance with the MTO Class EA for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000) process for a Group B project with the opportunity for public input.
A Planning and Preliminary Design Study was completed in June 2009, which documented transportation system improvements to the Highway 6 (Hanlon Expressway) corridor from south of Maltby Road to the Speed River (G.W.P. 3002-05-00). The recommended plan was documented in a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) which was approved on November 17, 2009. The improvement recommendations that were made as part of the 2009 TESR included a new interchange at Laird Road which was constructed in 2011. The remaining recommendations from the 2009 TESR are the subject of this study, as outlined under ‘Project Overview’.
A “five-year review” will be undertaken to determine if significant changes have occurred since approval of the 2009 TESR. In the event that significant changes are identified from the 2009 TESR, a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) Addendum will be made available for a 30-day public and agency review period. The Detailed Design phase will be documented in Design and Construction Report(s) (DCRs) that will be made available for a 30-day public and agency review period. The DCR(s) will document the study process, Detailed Design and associated environmental impacts, mitigation measures, and a summary of consultation undertaken.
